As a writer, you will only need an illustrator if you are self-publishing. Publishing houses
prefer to handle book illustration themselves.
If you are self-publishing, keep in mind that children's book illustrators are responsible
for visually enhancing your story - and ultimately their graphics will "sell" your book.
If the cover and interior illustrations don’t visually attract the child or parent, the book
remains unread!
That said, our listing of children's book illustrators is only a small sampling of the available
talent - and it is not an endorsement of those listed, but rather an informational listing - or at least
a place to start.
