Anne Rice is one of America's most read authors. She has written under
the names of A. N. Roquelaure and Anne Rampling as well as the incomparable
Anne Rice.
Born Howard Allen O'Brien in New Orleans, on October 4th, 1941 - she chose the
first name Anne on her first day of school. At 16 Anne moved to Texas and
attended Richardson High School and then began classes at Texas Women's
College in Denton. In 1961 she married Stan Rice and relocated to San Francisco.
and in 1969 the couple moved to Berkley with their then 3 year old daughter, Michelle.
Anne began working on her PHD at Berkley, later earning her Masters Degree in
creative writing from SFSU. In 1972, daughter Michelle died of Leukemia.
Beginning in 1976, Anne began the road to stardom, with the publishing of
Interview With A Vampire, and In 1979, son Christopher was born. In the
'80's the Rice's moved back to New Orleans and Anne became one of our bestselling
authors with over 20 books to her credit. For more in depth details
